Caroline Hopson1st Violin – Caroline Hopson


Caroline holds a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance and Master of Music Studies from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and she also studied at the Australian National Academy of Music. Prior to this, she studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where she performed regularly with the Manchester Camerata. Caroline is a core member of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, with whom she frequently performs as principal second violin. She has also played with the Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Australian Haydn Ensemble, Orchestra Seventeen88 and Orchestra of the Antipodes. An accomplished chamber musician, Caroline has performed at many Music Festivals both in Australia and overseas including the Huntingdon Estate Music Festival, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and Brisbane Baroque Festival.


In 2017 Caroline was soloist for the Cairns Winter Music School – performing the Mendelssohn violin concerto. We are delighted to welcome her back as Orchestra Leader in 2018.
